May it be the east or west, dragons have been an important part of the art in the both the worlds. This art also includes body arts. In the recent years the art became more pronounced in the shape of tattoos. The Chinese, Koreans and the Japanese believed for centuries that the dragons are saviors and protectors of the humans and cannot harm us. It was considered that dragons bring good fortune and luck. People used to mark their skin with dragons and this continued for many ages.

The tattoos are eastern and western in design. The eastern dragon tattoos are much more mythical as compared to the western dragon tattoos. Then another difference between the two designs is that the eastern design is much more elaborate than the western. Flat faces and long serpent like bodies are typically the eastern dragon tattoos. These dragons normally have two pair of feet. On pair as hind and other as front legs. It is considered that the very first dragon tattoos were eastern in design. It is because the art of tattooing spread from Japan. You often see people having these tattoos on their backs and front. This is because the dragon tattoos have to be made more elaborately and larger in size. Their can be smaller versions as well but the bigger the design the more majestic it would look.

The tattoos show scaly bodies of these reptiles and they have sharp teeth. The wings are very large in size. The whole tattoo is designed to give a mystic and mythical look. These are the two things which have always been associated with the dragons. The dragon tattoos are elaborate and fluid. When you see them closely it seems as if they are covering all the body parts. This is the beauty of the tattoo. Most dragon tattoo lovers have designs made which start form the feet and extend above till the torso, in some cases they even extend beyond the torso.
