Some Tips for Becoming a Tattoo Artist

Tattooing is a kind of traditional art. An apprenticeship art should last for three years before a person is considered as a professional artist. You need to be very professional at this because you are bringing a permanent change on another person's body and if something goes wrong then you are completely jeopardizing the health and the emotional well being of the person. You can avoid many of the costly mistakes by getting the desired knowledge of the well-experienced artists that are quiet professional in their work.

You have to put together all of your portfolio that should reflect your skills, your composition etc. Before walking into the studio you must have two flashes ready. There should be at least five pages in black and white and the other five pages should be  in color. The size of the sheet should be about 14x11 inches. You should be very professional in drawing the flash. You have to take all the time you need and prepare an attractive flash that is eye catching and should reflect your experience. Artists who make tattoos, always go for an attractive flash. You will be taken as a good artist by a person, who is an artist himself, if your work is good and attractive. When you have finished drawing the flashes, you need to visit the nearby shops and see for their owners.

There are some tips that you should follow when you visit the shop owners.

You need to check out the shop or studio some weeks earlier before you get in and before you ask for any kind of apprenticeship. You need to check whether the artist over there is friendly or not. If the shop you are visiting looks like a professional one to you and if there are some pictures hanging, by which you can have an idea about the work done in the shop and if someone asks you whether you need any assistance or not you just have to say that you are only looking around. When you are asking for an apprenticeship in the shop, you must see that the shop is not too much crowded.

You must make a bunch of copies of your produced work and take them with you in the shop. You must ask for the person who is in charge of the shop. You must let them know that there are some tattoos with you that are on sale. It is also said that artists in the shop are always looking for new flashes. You must make sure that you are not there to make money out of your work, infact you are there to look for an apprenticeship. When you are talking to the artist your attitude matters a lot. You need to be friendly to the artist, you should be confident and should show interest.

It is not easy to find an apprenticeship at a shop. You need to work hard on your flashes and make them attractive. The hardest part of all is how to get the attention of the artist towards your work. You can do that by your confidence and by professionalism in  your work.
