What is the procedure for getting a Tattoo?

Tattoos have been popular amongst people of all origin since the beginning of time. Initially only tribesmen indulged themselves in tattooing their bodies with beautiful designs but with the passage of time people from civilized culture also started having them. Nowadays these are especially popular amongst the younger generation.

Tattooing is a common practice around the world however not all of them use the same method for getting a tattoo on their body. Here are few of the procedures that are adopted these days:

  • Some tribes first cut the design into the skin and then the coloring agent, like ink, ashes or some other form, are rubbed into the wound that has resulted from cutting the design.
  • Some culture uses sharp sticks, needles or even sharp pointed animal bones to hand-tap the ink into the skin and creating a colored design.
  • Traditionally in Japan, tattoos are still hand poked. In this method ink is inserted below the skin using hand-made, hand held tools that are non-electric needles of sharp steel or bamboo.

However, in the modern time the above methods are almost extinct. Only few tribes use the old ways of tattooing. Nowadays, the tattoo artists use electric machines for tattooing. In this method needles are inserted in a bar that is attached to an oscillating unit. These needles are used to insert ink into the skin. The needles are inserted 80-150 times in one second in the skin to get the design that the customer wants.

Sanitary Precautions:
People are becoming more and more cautions regarding sanitary. They will go to any length to ensure that there are no sanitary issues in the tattooing procedure adopted by the tattoo artist. Seeing this concern of the customers the tattoo artists started using needles that can be used only once and after that they need to be disposed off. The tattoo artists are required to wash their hands properly as well as the area which is to be tattooed so that no infection takes place. Also the artist needs to wear gloves as well as wipe the wound frequently with wet disposable towel to further lessen the chances of infection.

Prices:
Although getting a tattoo is not very expensive however the prices vary from location to location as well as the tattoo design. Even if the price of tattooing is not very high in your area but you prefer a complex design to be tattooed then the price will certain go up. There are other factors contributing to the price of tattooing and these are:

  • The skills of the tattoo artist
  • The cost of the business
  • Supply and demand of tattoo in that area
  • Size of the tattoo
  • Complexity of the tattoo
  • The time it takes to make the tattoo

Tattoos are the in thing amongst the younger generation. But when getting a tattoo it must be kept in mind that although in most cases tattoos are not permanent however, the removal procedure of tattoos is not only expensive but also painful.
